Panama Restaurant Week — Logo
In many cities, a “Restaurant Week” is a popular event where participating restaurants offers a special menu that consists of three courses (appetizer, entrée, dessert) with a fixed price. Restaurant Weeks provide a great opportunity to try a new spot in high-toned restaurants. This event is very common in cities such as Baltimore, Cleveland, Atlantic City, Washington DC, Vancouver and London.
Melissa Pinto Malek, owner of PINTOMA, S.A., promoted this event in Panama City, by first time, in 2007. This kind of event needed promotional strategies to reach the target market. I participated in her team designing the logo, the website, and other promotional print materials.
First of all, the Logo:
She’d like a logo that evoke the idea of “elegant restaurant in Panama”. So, I took some elements like some landmarks of Panama, and a fork to stir the idea of ‘food / restaurant’.
For an elegant logo, simplicity is the key. That means minimal use of color, graceful sinuous line, and a stylish serif font.
Once she chose the logo, we continued on selecting a color. She suggested a red color like “Burgundy” or “Red Wine”.…After two weeks, we finally found the perfect red color for the logo.
Also, I created a favicon for the website.
